What’s your opinion?

As with all TimeLine shows, we hope Guantanamo will spark healthy debate surrounding the issues of the play that face our society today.

Back in 1755, Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

We'd love to know what you think. Please share your thoughts by adding your comments to this posting. Just click on the "comments" link below.

On September 11, 2001 I was in Baltimore in a government office and watched the suicide bombers. After the initial disbelief, I said to my companions: "Please do not start bombing in retaliation, because it will produce our most frightful side." This was not a COUNTRY attacking us but a group of people who hate to the extreme. A war against hatred does not go well with loss of more human rights. I wish I could come to Chicago and see this play. I admire greatly the effort to stimulate discussion. Shine a bright light and perhaps others will begin to see.

Re: Terry's question as to "the people who need to see GUANTANAMO": I think every person who wants to know more and every person who has any opinion about the issue and has not spoken up about it to her/his elected representatives, could benefit from this play. We do not all think along our red/blue lines, and this one is complicated. But even when we do agree, Tony Kushner put it nicely when he said that "There's nothing wrong with preaching to the converted. That's what Martin Luther King did, and look what happened there."
